My Truth Behind Ear Cartilage Piercing Healing Time


I have wanted to write about this topic of ear cartilage piercing for so long, but I decided to wait until my second piercing fully healed without the slightest pain or redness. First off let me tell you ear cartilage piercing is "NOT" for everyone, because of the long and sometimes unbearably painful healing process. Think long and hard before you get this procedure done because you will have to endure plenty of times when you are uncomfortable.
When it comes to ear cartilage piercing the best method to get it done by is a sterilized needle specially made for the ear. This type of needle will cut your approximate healing time by a few months and it is highly unlikely to shatter your cartilage like the piercing gun would. I got both of my piercings by the gun and I paid a major price because of it, it wasn't because I neglected my healing process. Once you find a place to get your ear pierced whether a tattoo shop, or place like Piercing Pagoda (Where I went) find out the best type of earrings to get. Since I had purchased 1 carat diamond stud earrings the year before I decided I would buy the stainless steel and wear them until I fully healed.
Once you get the piercing clean your piercing twice daily with the included ear solution and the piercing and care literature. You can also use alcohol if you prefer with Q-tips, both are good for cleaning and reducing redness at times. You should also turn the earring after each cleaning, this will help with loosening the hole and not allowing crust to buildup around the earring hole, (this is painful). PLEASE refrain from unnecessary touching, this can cause your pain to increase substantially. When sleeping try not to sleep and apply pressure to the pierced ear, it will hurt, get numb, hurt worse and turn red. Also while you are healing keep your hair away from your earrings, this can cause the hair to get caught up and wrapped around between your ear and the earring, and will hurt when removed and if not can cause infection.
Now for both of my piercings the healing time was approximately 6 months. The misconception that I had to fight through was that after 24 hours. If there is still pain and redness take the earrings out immediately and go to the E.R. "NOT for Me" I kept on with my cleaning regimen and never experienced long-lasting massive swelling or even infection at ALL. Now don't get me wrong it was a very painful experience that I decided to get done "Twice" up until about the 6 month period I rarely was without any type of discomfort.
This is my experience and opinions that I am sharing with you. If this seems too intense for you and your tolerance for pain you may want to try alternative ways to jazz up your ears like; ear cuffs or ear magnets where piercing is not needed. Either way which ever decision you choose, make sure it is what you want and will sacrifice to endure, Happy Piercing!

How I Lost 20 Pounds in 3 Months - Twice!


Almost as long as I've been alive, the topic of weight loss and staying healthy has been one of the hottest subjects of conversation in our society. I had always been able to eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Now, for the first time in my life this was catching up to me and it affected my weight. My weight was also affected because this was a busy time in my life. I had two young children, and I was progressing at a job, which took up much of my time. As a result, I did not spend much time, if any, exercising.
It was when I started to do some research on what weight I should be that the alarm bells went off. The chart said I was in the overweight category. I wasn't drastically overweight. It was just a few pounds according to the chart. However, I was still in shock. After being almost too thin at times in my life I never dreamed I would ever be considered overweight. Regardless, I was at a point where I didn't look right, and I didn't feel right. It was time to take action.
It didn't take me long to figure out what to do. Every year, my father spent the 40 day period of Lent on a calorie limit. He kept his calories on a low limit and stuck to it. He was never one who drastically needed to lose weight, but he always did during this time. I determined that this would be my plan of action. Since my normal calorie intake should be around 2000, I lowered my limit to 1500. Did it work? Within 3 months, I had lost 20 pounds and was once again at my ideal weight. I felt great again. I did this for me, but other people noticed as well, and commented on how fit I looked.
Fast forward to a year ago. For the most part, I have been good at staying in shape and maintaining my desired weight. However, I again reached a point where it had gone beyond control and I was again in the overweight category. I went back to what I did years ago and enjoyed the same result.
In my life I have had two significant experiences where I felt the need to lose weight and lose it as quickly as possible in a healthy manner. I was successful both times. By no means do I claim to be a weight loss expert or know it all. I share these two easy steps for anyone who may be going through a similar struggle and share the same desire to experience victory in this area. Here are two ways that have worked for me and I believe can help anyone lose weight quickly and successfully:
  • It's all about calories - In my opinion, it's as simple a formula as anyone can think of. In essence, it's the less you eat, the less you'll gain. Unlike other kinds of diets, a calorie diet has no major health risks. Other diets take away carbs, fats, and other necessary ingredients. You're still getting everything here. What I like best about this is you can still eat whatever you want! You're just eating less of it. You also don't have to give up things like social events. For example, if you are having a big family dinner at night, you can still partake completely. You may just have to sacrifice and eat less at other times of the day. The key is to set a calorie limit and stick to it. It is much simpler to do this now with computer programs and apps. I used an app called My Fitness Pal when I did this last year. This will help you set a daily calorie limit based on the amount of weight you want to lose and the time frame you chose. It even tracks your calories for you, and even factors in any exercise you do. It helped me lose 10 pounds in the first month, and then the rest came off gradually.
  • It's all about mindset - Especially for this time around, I have learned how powerful the mind can be. Half or more of the weight loss battle can be won (or lost) in the mind. The key is proper focus. When many people think of losing weight, that's what they focus on. They see themselves as unfit, too many pounds, and focus on the weight. The key instead is to focus on the end result. Visualize yourself at the weight you want to be. Choose an exact number and continually see that number in your mind instead of the one you are at now. Start doing some of the things you would do if you were more fit. Start choosing and preparing clothes at a lower size. Thank God now for His help in getting you to the goal. These are just a few suggestions. The bottom line is that when you focus on the end result and successful accomplishment of the goal, you will get there sooner.
Once again, I will not claim to be an expert in the field of weight loss. I also understand that some people have weight struggles that go beyond proper eating and exercise, and have struggled far more than me. I have been taught some guidelines that I applied when I was in situations that I felt the need to lose weight. Make a point not to skip these treat meals. Knowing that you can have a treat every now and then makes sticking to your regular diet of real food much easier. It's tempting to skip them, thinking that you will lose fat faster without them. I find it extremely sad when a member of the House of Lords publicly states that people who are obese have no one to blame but themselves, and then calls those who are obese "stupid". This sentence caused the peers to cheer loudly. After these comments, Health Minister Earl Howe appeared to agree with him.
It is clear that Lord Tebbit, and many peers, display little love or compassion for people struggling with weight problems. It should be noted that he, and many other Tory peers, are the very people who allowed fast food chains to open on numerous street corners, forcing the closure of existing café's (which had existed for fifty to one hundred years).
When Lord Tebbit was a member of the Government, it was known (in the Department of Health) that fast food was very cheap and unhealthy, and contributed to obesity. Was this information made available to the public? No.
It should also be noted that the Government failed to address the problem of unhealthy school dinners, which contained little nutritional value and did not contribute to the health of school children. School meals were found to be very fattening and contribute to weight gain (due to the high amount of fat, salt and sugar used). Besides this, the same Government sold school football pitches and running tracks, which reduced or eliminated physical activity for many school children.
These days, very little Physical Education is encouraged in schools. With the rise of mobile devices, and instant sources of entertainment (computers, social media, smartphones and video games), a huge number of children lead a very sedentary lifestyle.
The factors listed above have contributed to the rise in obesity levels, but Lord Tebbit ignored all of them and instead blamed obese people.

I would start with the Government. I also blame the Education Boards, school curriculums and schools themselves. Parents of obese children must also shoulder some blame, as they are failing their children with a lack of education and guidance.
Politicians make speeches about the importance of education but they never follow through when they are elected. We all advocate a fit and healthy lifestyle for children, so they should be educated about the dangers of sugar and fat. They need to know what is harmful to their health. There should be more sport available for young children, and they should be encouraged to exercise (such as walking, running, swimming, football, tennis, rugby and so on).
The Government should take charge of this health crisis by issuing health warnings about the fast food chains, instead of bending to their wishes. They have become so powerful that they now influence Government decisions. The government should provide guidance to schools, hospitals, social workers and parents about obesity and the dangers.
