Shakeology For Weight Gain

Shakeology is a product typically associated with weight loss. Beachbody and it's coaches typically gears it toward people looking to shed excess pounds. Could it be responsible for weight gain though?
To answer this question it is important to have a basic understanding of how weight is loss or gained. In its simplest form, weight fluctuation comes down to calories in VS calories out. If you take in more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. If you burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight. The reason that people typically lose weight with Shakeology is because they use it as a meal replacement. That means that instead of consuming a meal that contains, let's say 1,000 calories, they drink a shake, which contains less than 200 calories. The reason that Shakeology has been so successful is that it gives users a low calorie drink that is loaded with nutrients, and is certified low glycemic.
Everything that I have mentioned about Shakeoogy is pointing towards the weight loss characteristics. Personally, I am an ectomorph. That means that I am prone to being thin, and actually have trouble gaining weight. While most people would be very happy about that, it can be challenging for an athlete, or someone looking for a more muscular build. I have struggled to put on pounds, and decided to introduce Shakeology in to my diet to step up my efforts. It has ended up being a vital part of my weight gain process, for several reasons.
How Shakeology Has Helped Me Gain Weight
Earlier I mentioned that people lose weight because they replace a meal with a shake, decreasing their caloric intake. To gain weight, I simple added a shake to my diet without eliminating anything. That means that I have increased my caloric intake, which is a big part of weight gain. In addition to the extra calories, the shakes have helped me put on lean muscle thanks to the macro-nutrients in it. They are essential to building healthy muscle.
Since I have been strength training, it is important to take in the proper nutrients to feed the muscles that have been broken down. However, if you increase your caloric intake without working out, you will gain weight, but it will not be muscle. Your body will store the extra calories as fat, which is not typically the goal when someone is trying to gain weight.
