Stress Relief Through Yoga and Meditation



The word "Yoga" comes from Sanskrit meaning the union of the mind, body and spirit. Yoga and meditation go together very closely. So closely in fact that you cannot do Yoga without meditation. Yoga refers to meditation practices from Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.

The difference between the half and the full Lotus pose is basically just the positioning of your legs. In the full pose. You bring both feet above your legs, sitting across like a fashion. Whereas in the half lotus pose, only one foot is above your leg and the other is under the opposite leg.
An example of a typical yoga stretch for sore neck muscles would be as follows.
Sitting in the lotus position mentioned above, sit with your back straight and looking forward. While exhaling, lower your chin to your chest. Perform this move five times and on the fifth time, hold it for three breaths.
Now with your head centered perform the same steps as above, but instead of lowering your chin to your chest lower your right ear to your right shoulder. Then perform the stretch on the left ear to the left shoulder.
