How to Keep Your Nails Looking Healthy

Our nails are perhaps the nicest part of our hands, but our hands are the body part that we most take for granted as we use them everyday to eat, to clean, to write, to type and to do numerous other activities. But because our hands are always so busy, how do we keep our nails looking healthy and fabulous? Here is a very brief guide to making your nails look fantastic, whatever the situation.
Ditch Your Bad Habits :

We all have bad habits, but one that affects most people is biting their nails. If you bit your nails, you'll know how easy it is to do, and how addictive it can also be. However, biting, or even picking your nails causes long-term damage to both the cuticle and the skin around your nail on your fingers, as the constant chewing and picking of the nail makes it become very weak and brittle over time. So, if you punish your nails - stop it, you aren't doing yourself any favours.
Strength Them :

One thing that many people complain about is chipping their fingernails. This is very easy to do, especially if you have very long fingernails. However, if you want to avoid this, there are a few things you can do, such as taking a special multivitamin designed to strengthen and improve your nails. Calcium and vitamin D are also very good for helping strengthen and improve the look of your nails if they look unhealthy. Another way to strengthen them is to apply a kind of strengthening fluid directly to the nail, that will coat and protect the nail, as well as nourish it and help it continue to grow. This is a very useful option for people who bite or pick at their nails, as painting their nails can be a very productive and helpful substitute for their bad habit of abusing their nails.
Decorate Them :

One way in which many people decide to help their nails is by covering them in nail varnish, or even getting a manicure, which involves having false nails fitted over their own nails. This again, can really be helpful for biters or pickers. However, it's important to remember that this is only a temporary measure and not a long term thing, as the nail needs to be able to 'breathe' in order to grow. However, painting them bright colours, or decorating them with nail wraps isn't a bad idea now and then, and it can help dress up your nails for a special occasion, such as a wedding, a night out or a fancy dress party.
Our nails are a beautiful part of our body, but they are so easily damaged, so why not look after them for a little bit, and make them look healthy by following the above steps, and protecting them in the long term. Or you could even decorate them with nail varnish or nail wraps - it could really help you appreciate them a little bit more.

Although I would never decorate my nails, I did find this article to be an interesting read. I am most interested in the vitamins that have to do with increasing the strength of your nails as my work is about improving yourself with natural vitamins - healthy food! I'm sure that this website is about helping you, and that is what I would like to do for you too. In order to compliment this article I wanted to share with you different foods you could eat to improve your nails --> http://www.selfimprovements4u.com/nails.html
