Motivation Can Fade, But Habits Prevail

Hello Friends, have you ever heard a song, sermon or speaker that motivated and inspired you? It's always wonderful to hear things that are encouraging and speak to our heart and soul. It can really help recharge our spiritual batteries. However we must not become complacent and just become motivational junkies.
If you become dependent on motivational tapes, music or sermons, then your walk with the Lord will suffer. In addition to having your own quiet time with God, you need to transfer that motivation onto your God-given talent and bless others with what you've learned. This can be done through the natural talents and gifts that God has given you.
Instead of depending on someone else to fire you up, you can be intentional about helping others. Do this regularly. By making this apart of your daily life, it will become a habit.
Science has shown that even though you might not "feel" like doing something - if you just act or behave in such a manner, over time, your feelings will follow.
For example, if you want to do something altruistic (kind) for a friend but you wait until you "feel" like it - well that time may never come. Let's face it, life is busy for all of us. Many of us are pulled in numerous directions everyday and it's rare to find a person so organized where they can appropriately manage their time.
Unless you're extremely organized, a corporate executive who is forced into maintaining structure, or you have an assistant constantly reminding you of your next appointments, it's easy to be distracted by anything that glitters.
If you rely on your feelings for things to get done, then nothing ever will be accomplished. That's why you must schedule the event and act on it. You can literally behave your way into feeling good.
When "serving" or "doing good" for others becomes a habit in your life, then you'll find that it happens regardless of your emotions. You'll find that you're doing these things because they are a blessing to them and to you. (and the best part is - this will be a natural outflowing from your heart! Not the result of being pumped up by some eloquent speaker.)
"So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time." Galatians 6:9
Blessings,
