Does Your Gym Have Mold?

Spending time at the gym, you get to hang out with plenty of bacteria, especially in the showers, pools and hot tubs. The beat-up padding on benches is an ideal environment for fungi. Dirty towels and razors can often be found in the locker room. You certainly don't want some bacteria or fungi to cause an infection in any open sores. If some get into you digestive system, you'll be stuck in the restroom all day. Folks often experience painful muscle cramps as well. Some people have even got pneumonia, while others' Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has acted up. Staph infections form and you may wind up with athlete's foot. Make sure to cover your feet in the gym locker room, pool and sauna. After all, the business is not liable in case of injury. You agreed to that when you signed the legal paperwork in your membership.
You probably rely on drinking water to cool off and refuel your body. Just make sure to use bottled water to stay hydrated. And try not to refill your empty bottle at the water fountain. Gyms have been known to have mold growing from their pipes, through the water fountain and ending up in individuals' bodies. The mold has been known to cause breakout on the skin, as well as severe lung infections.
Often times, men and women end up breathing quite heavy for yoga class at the gym. However, this may not be the idea, considering the ceilings often contain the toxic-causing mold stachybotrys. Skin breaks out. Breathing gets heavy. Immune systems get weak and people even experience excessive bleeding. Sometimes the rubber gloves used to clean floor mats and weights contain dreadful chemicals. The chemicals on the gloves lead to ugly red skin, full of horrible hives and painful rashes all over the body. People cough. People sneeze. It gets ugly.
Next time you are working out, look at the ceiling above the sauna. Do you see stains from water or mold? It probably smells pretty awful in there too. By all means, do not stop going to the gym. Work out your heart. Get a tight body. Just make sure to place a towel between you and the bench. One piece of good news is that adrenaline opens ups one's lungs. But if you do spot mold at your gym, have them call a crew of licensed water and mold damage specialists.
I am a veteran engineer in Miami Florida's construction business. Since retiring, I want to share my years of experience with men and women in South Florida suffering from water and mold damage.
