Winning The War Against Sugar Addiction (Your Health Is At Risk If You Lose)

You know if you're addicted to sugar - you crave chocolate, candy, cake (love the frosting), donuts (especially the ones with bavarian creme), or ice cream. Holidays are the worst time for sugar addicts. The Easter basket, Christmas candy and cookies, and Thanksgiving desserts are major temptations.
You're like a smoker sneaking out into the cold winter air for a few puffs, only you stop to pick up root beer barrels at the local food market. Then, you eat the entire package in one sitting. Or three servings of ice cream in front of the TV set. Or a whole box of marshmallow cookies.
Sweet food is your friend, your comfort when things aren't going your way, your spouse is spending too much time surfing the net, or your boss is crawling up your butt.
By the way, you're fighting this war thanks to the food industry. One of the "best' ways to profit from selling food products is to get your customers hooked on your sugar-filled food - that way they'll buy more of it. Not only does it taste good, it's also addictive. And cheap to produce. The bottom line - addicted customers equal profits, much like the tobacco industry.
There are so many "healthy" foods laced with sugar that it's mind-boggling. Check out the yogurt section of the grocery store. It's difficult to find a yogurt that's not filled with sugary fruit.
How Do You Win The War Against Sweets?
In theory, it's easy. I remember a New Age philosopher talking about how to stop smoking. His methodology - "Don't put the cigarette in your mouth."
You must be thinking, "Great theory! In practice, it's difficult to stop putting the sugary food in your mouth."
Unfortunately, there's only one way to stop smoking - change your mindset that insists that a cigarette is a friend and think of it as a monster and the enemy.
Same thing for sugar - a lifetime of excessive sugar consumption leads to end- of-life misery from a variety of illnesses (diabetes, heart disease). Only you can't think about the diseases - you think about the enemy - sugar - and how to conquer the enemy. Sugar is not, and has never been your friend!
The good news is that when you restrict sugar consumption for a few days, eating a piece of chocolate is going to taste mighty sweet!
Hopefully, you won't even try to eat it, because consuming one bite will get you re-addicted.
